CASE STUDY
THE MILLENNIAL MONEY REPORT
CLIENT: CHIME
We have partnered with Chime for a number of years, producing research-led stories on the personal finance topics that matter to everyday Americans. For the summer of 2026, we collaborated on a culturally led study marking the year the first millennials turn 30 — fielding the research, producing the trend report, designing and building the digital microsite, and writing and distributing the research-led news story that brought it all to earned media.
How research, a trend report and a custom-built microsite helped Chime rewrite the millennial money story
Opportunity
Millennial money news stories often cover topics such as savings, debt and delayed milestones, with brands producing content around stress, confidence and financial health.
Chime’s opportunity was to own the narrative somewhere in between — where financial choices become identity, and new markers of success replace inherited ones.
The premise was that financial progress for this generation isn’t delayed, it has been redefined. Our job was to use research data to prove that, and to find the gap between how the outside world still measures millennial money and how millennials are actually living it.
Approach
The campaign called for a well-coordinated approach across multiple teams. We designed and fielded the research, managed and designed a research-led trend report, built the accompanying digital microsite, and produced and distributed the earned-media news story.
We conducted two surveys: polling 2,000 nationally representative millennials (ages 30–45), split evenly into three cohorts, plus 500 Gen Xers and 500 baby boomers as generational comparison points. We asked over 70 questions, including open-ended responses, exploring how each generation defines financial progress, success and security, and where those definitions differ.
The findings provided Chime with plenty of data-rich insights and talking points to fuel a full trend report, newsworthy story, broadcast and influencer outreach and media activations.
