The perfect movie length
01
The research
There are some serious movie buffs in the Talker Research team. So they jumped at the chance to find out what makes the nation tick when it comes to watching movies. With our survey questions answered and the numbers crunched, our poll revealed that Americans are officially over marathon movies. In fact, we were able to calculate the perfect movie length is just 92 minutes.
What’s more, only two percent of the 2,000 U.S. adults polled thought a movie should be longer than two and a half hours. And just 15% want to sit through a movie that’s two hours or longer.

The results
The research proved to be a hot topic. We released the page-ready survey story on our proprietary wire and within 24 hours it was picked up and covered by top tier news outlets, movie sites and consumer publications... and continued to hit headlines over two weeks later. Carson Daly shared the findings on the TODAY show, where the hosts discussed cinematic greats that exceed 92 minutes and the movies that meet the ‘perfect’ runtime.
The story made People, New York Post, BBC, The Guardian, The U.S. Sun, IMBb, Yahoo, Independent Español, UNILAD, Metro, The Mary Sue, GamesRadar, and AOL among many others. On social media, Pubity, TODAY and Discussing Film shared the survey findings with their community of millions of followers. See some of the coverage highlights below.
